Jackson McPherson Wins U19 at the Fox Superflow — Finch Hatton

Big weekend for Mackay Cycles Scott ambassador Jackson McPherson, who took out first place in the Under 19s at the Fox Superflow at Finch Hatton — right on Mackay's doorstep. Here's Jackson's report from the weekend.

The Event: Fox Superflow, Finch Hatton

Run by Rocky Trail Entertainment on 27–28 June, the Fox Superflow rolled into Finch Hatton MTB Park — Queensland's newest mountain bike destination, tucked into the Pioneer Valley west of Mackay and surrounded by some of the world's oldest rainforest. Racing ran across three gravity tracks: the black-graded FOX, the red STANS, and the blue LAZER — fast, flowing singletrack with plenty of bermed corners and technical features to keep everyone honest.

First in U19, Second Overall

Happy to take out first place in the Under 19s, winning my category by six seconds — and placing second overall across all riders. The plan was to keep it clean, and it paid off: I had consistent runs across the weekend and kept mistakes to a minimum, which counts for everything in a format where every second on every stage adds up.

Two Very Different Days

Day one served up perfect weather and some genuinely fast riding — the kind of conditions you dream about for a Superflow. Day two was a different story. The rain set in and turned the track into a mud pit, which slowed everyone right down and made every run a test of nerve as much as speed.

The Bike: Scott Genius ST 910

The bike I used was the Scott Genius ST 910, and it performed exceptionally well throughout the event. It gave me plenty of confidence through the corners and over the rough sections — which made all the difference when the track got greasy on day two.
