Max Teague Takes XCC Gold & Extends National Series Lead in Canberra
Max Teague Claims XCC Gold and Double XCO Podiums at AusCycling National Series – Canberra
Max Teague delivered a huge three-day performance at the AusCycling XC National Series in Canberra, lining up at Mt Stromlo for Rounds 5, 6 and 7.
Friday featured Round 5 – XCC (Short Track). Saturday was Round 6 – XCO. Sunday wrapped up with Round 7 – XCO.
Across the weekend Max secured XCC Gold and backed it up with 2nd place in both XCO rounds — including a Round 7 finish decided by just one second.
Friday – Round 5 (XCC) 🥇
The short track format is fast, aggressive and tactical. Max launched hard off the line, positioned himself perfectly and controlled the race to take the win.

Saturday – Round 6 (XCO) 🥈
Saturday’s Olympic Cross Country (XCO) tested endurance and positioning on classic Stromlo terrain. Max once again put himself in the race and rode to a strong 2nd place finish.

Sunday – Round 7 (XCO) 🥈
Sunday’s race came down to the final lap and final climb. Max attacked early, forced the split and fought all the way to the line — finishing 2nd by just one second.

Series Leader After Canberra
After XCC Gold in Round 5 and back-to-back XCO podiums in Rounds 6 and 7, Max now leads the U15 National MTB XC Series standings.
The series heads to Brisbane next weekend for Round 8 before culminating at the Australian MTB XC Championships at Mt Buller in three weeks’ time.
